No, they can hook it up so everyone can watch something different. I have Dish and 3 tvs in different rooms. Just let them know this is what you want when you call them.
We have two receivers and four televisions and all four televisions can watch different programs. We also have a DVR and we can record one program while watching another.
you can have up to 4 tvs watching different programming. any tv’s over the 4 have to be hooked up thru a process called “mirroring” where they do have to watch the same channel as one of the other tv’s. and you dont have to have a receiver for each of those first 4 tv’s. there are dual-tuner receivers, which each handle 2 tv’s but they can watch different channels.
