Q1.) Currently, there is a great package for $29.99 for 12mths for DIRECTV. Typically, do they jack up the price after the 12mths later for us to continue ?
Q2.) If after 12mths, I don't want to continue DIRECTV, do they charge us to return the dish and equipment ?
Thanks !

I don’t know about the price after a year but they don’t charge to return dish and equipment. They just stay at the house but are deactivated if you don’t continue with them.

I believe that the way it usually works is, if you are a first time customer, you get this low price for however many months, then they will charge you their normal price. There should be no issue with the equipment.

Usually these great deals require you to have a 2 year obligation
so you would pay $29.99 for the first year and then maybe
$65 a month for the next year, depends up on the package
they gave you. After looking at Direct TV’s web page you
are getting the 40 channels for $29.99, this is their normal
everyday price, most of the other packages they offer your
cost would go up $10 per month, the biggest package goes
    up $24 per month.

The dish would stay but I believe that you can return the
receivers to any local authorized dealer.

The best way to get absolute answers is to call DirecTV themselves.

Here’s some information to get you started:

The $29.99 offer is a new customer offer. The programming package you have to subscribe to usually costs $39.99 per month, but once you fill out a rebate form (it comes with your first bill, or you can submit one online) you can expect a $10 credit to your monthly bill, giving you the advertised price.

There are additional charges, but a friendly DTV representative can explain those to you.

If you decide to disconnect your services DirecTV does request that you return any leased receivers, and the computer system automatically orders prepaid recovery kits for you to send equipment back in. If you don’t send leased receivers back there is a non return fee, but it can be reversed upon the company receiving the equipment. As for the dish, you are usually not required to return it.

As for cancellation, everyone so far has the wrong answer. The service commitment depends on the type of equipment you activate, but it’s a flat fee of $12.50 per month not completed (no more than $150 for a 1-year commitment, $300 for a 2-year commitment).

Here’s some questions to ask a representative:

-What kind of channels will I be getting?
-What additional charges can I expect to get?
-What are the exact terms of the new customer offer?
-What would a normal bill be? What would the bill be with the new customer offer?
-How much does it cost to start? (be aware that certain customers are asked to pay a start up fee that is credited back bit by bit over a period of time)

Also, be sure that if you do decide to start your services, you pick your programming in the beginning, and if not make sure the CSR you speak to at activation. That way you can be sure you will get the new customer offers. Also, be sure to talk to the representative at the time of activation to verify billing information (make sure they’ve spelled your name right and have your billing address correct!) and also so they can notify you of when you can expect to see your first bill.

This is all of the information I can offer. If you have any other questions, feel free to call DirecTV to get more information =)
